The Civic Action Lab directly engages local communities by unifying three key disciplines: community organizing, bridging, and participatory democracy. A new brand identity was established to accelerate its ongoing expansion. The identity highlights the coalition’s integrated approach to fostering civic action, utilizing a neutral visual style free from political or partisan associations to showcase how a broad-based partnership can successfully drive lasting impact.
Designed with an optical illusion, the mark reinforces the strength of the organization’s methodology. Viewed from one angle, it looks like a cluster of building blocks representing the three core disciplines of Civic Action Lab. From another vantage point, it transforms into a star, illustrating the collective power of these disciplines operating in unison. Additionally, the mark morphs into three flat framing components and ultimately a single cropping element.
The new mark provided the foundation for a cohesive visual language that presents Civic Action Lab as simultaneously refined and accessible.
Comprehensive brand guidelines established standards for typography, color usage, iconography, and editorial formats. Supported by this unified style guide and asset collection, team members and external partners can seamlessly produce aligned communications.
